We are passionate about doing our bit, and spreading the word to help others do their bit too.

Everything we do has some kind of impact on the planet in one way or another. A lot of the time this impact is negative, and all of our little negative impacts (& some big ones too!) are amounting to a very, very bad impact on our planet.

We understand that going "100% green" just isn't achievable for the majority of people for a multitude of reasons, but that doesn't mean we can't all make small & easy changes to our lifestyles to be more friendly to our planet.

Eco-conscious clothing

Every item in our client wardrobe has been thrifted/purchased second-hand. We are passionate about education on fast-fashion and it's impacts.

Eco-conscious printing

We will always opt for & recommend environmentally conscious printing services, unless specifically requested otherwise. Our chosen suppliers produce the same great quality, but will also offset their impact on the environment.

DID YOU KNOW?

400% more clothes are being produced now compared to 20 years ago, but on average a garment is only worn 7 times before being thrown away. Across the planet, we discard 92 million tonnes of textile waste each year, 206,456 tonnes coming from the UK.

DID YOU KNOW?

The UK produces 26 million tonnes of waste per year. 12 million tonnes of it are recycled, leaving 14 million tonnes to go to landfill.  Our average recycling rate in the UK is 45% - only 3% higher than it was in 2010.

DID YOU KNOW?

Chemicals are one of the main components of clothes. The heavy use of these chemicals has several effects, including disease and death amongst those in the industry, freshwater & ocean water pollution, soil degradation & even harm to the consumer - that's you!

YOUR CLOTHES & THE PLANET

The fashion industry is the UK's largest creative industry, and also one of the leading sectors of the global market. Fashion is a big part of our lives, and it can have really great, positive effects. It helps us express ourselves and our creative individualities. But how much do we actually know about the process of making our clothes, and the impact that it has on the environment?

Keep reading to find out more.

1. DESIGN

This is where the toxicity of fast fashion begins. Garments are designed based on current trends, with the whole purpose of making you feel 'out of style' when the next collection drops.

2. MATERIAL PRODUCTION

The production of materials and fibres causes a variety of environmental concerns. The mass-production of materials such as cotton, viscose and wool is having terrible consequences; such as water contamination, soil degradation and rainforest destruction. Not to mention illness and death amongst workers in this industry.

3. GARMENT PRODUCTION

Possibly the worst stage of a garments life, in so many ways. The term 'modern slavery' has been used to describe the life of a fast fashion garment maker. 93% of brands don't pay their workers a living wage, and their normal working day would be 14-16 hour days, 7 days a week.

In addition to the huge social concerns, the garment production stage causes frightening environmental complications too. Did you know 22,000 litres of toxic waste is dumped into rivers in Bangladesh every. single. day. Eventually that toxic waste travels into the sea and around the world, killing thousands of marine life in the process - and that's not even the worst bit.

4. DISTRIBUTION

when you consider the transportation required between each stage of a garments life, from farm to consumer - that’s a lot of miles! That’s not including returns from purchased & unwanted items (50-80% of clothes purchased online are returned!)

5. CONSUMER

Every time we wash a synthetic garment, about 700,000 individual microfibres are released into the water, making their way into our oceans. (Microfibres are bad!)

Once we’ve finished with a garment, it will likely spend the rest of it’s life in a wardrobe or on landfill. Ideally, all unused clothes & textiles would be donated/recycled/sold on, however we discard of 92 million tons of clothes-related waste each year. Of all recycled materials in 2021, textiles only accounts for 2%

OKAY, so we know our planet is sad..

but what can          we do to                  help?

RECYCLE

In the UK, our last documented recycling rate was 45% - not quite the 50% we were targeted to hit in 2020. As a nation, we have been making more of an effort and the statistics do reflect this, but there are still areas where we could improve.

Four in five homes cause cross-contamination by putting non-recyclable items in their recycling bins, and there's still a lot of people who don't recycle at all.

We can recycle so many items nowadays - there is no need to fill

our rubbish bins with recyclables. Charity shops will happily
take much of your unwanted goods, and TerraCycle will
    recycle almost everything else.
